Meet Nancie
I’ve been a Marriage and Family Therapist now for more than 15 years. What I treasure most about what I do is the connection that evolves between me and my clients that opens the door to the possibility for true healing. This is so important in the work I do with individuals who suffer from Anxiety and Depression. Knowing that they are sharing with someone who has been where they are, and understands their particular challenges, seems to make a big difference.
My personal experience with Anxiety and Depression
A few years ago, through a series of surprising events, I discovered that I’ve been living my life with Anxiety. The discovery occurred when I was co-training at the University of Santa Monica (USM), where I was on faculty. My co-trainer would interrupt me by whispering in my ear about something I’d forgotten. I’d lose my place and get flustered and unfocused, and have a difficult time returning to where I’d left off. This was very anxiety-provoking. This circumstance re-occurred enough times that I felt really uncomfortable every time we did a training. It was then that I realized that Anxiety played a big part in my life and I knew I had to do something about it.
As far as depression is concerned, I had a serious car accident a number of years ago, and after months of being in a brace that covered my whole upper body, I recovered. I remember even though I was lucky to get out of the accident alive, having had thoughts that maybe I shouldn’t be here anymore. It was one of the darkest times in my life. I was able to turn it around, thank goodness, and the advantage of having these experiences is how they have helped me understand my clients so much better.
I bring this background, a degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Santa Monica, and the experience of being on faculty there, to my practice, and my work with you.
I am excited to get to know you.
Please call me at (949) 922-8548 or use my Contact page. I look forward to speaking with you.
